Our Remarkable Moments
Friends for SupportOne day, a resident in his 80’s was having lunch with a friend who was in his early 60’s.
One day, a resident in his 80’s was having lunch with a friend who was in his early 60’s. He decided that, as a birthday present to himself, he was going to get one of his ears pierced. His friend naturally decided to provide moral support and do it with him. At the age of 80+ and in honour of his wife, Violet, who had already passed away, our resident got a violet-coloured gem stone stud in one ear. His friend opted for a simple gold loop.
Mr. M's RecoveryMr. M., in his early 70’s, came to us from Florida. He was living with dementia in a retirement home there.
Mr. M., in his early 70’s, came to us from Florida. He was living with dementia in a retirement home there. His family removed him from there because they were not satisfied with the level of care he was receiving and brought him home to us. Our dedicated care team first weaned him off all unnecessary medications and restraints. Next, the physio team began working with him to get his strength back so he could get out of his wheelchair and start walking and talking. We learned from his family that he loved golf so we set up a putting green on our lawn and he absolutely loved it. Mr. M. regained his quality of life. He became very outgoing and socializes well with other residents. Family members can’t believe the transformation and are overjoyed.
